A category's detail page
Each category has its own page with the total for a period, trends, top merchants and an editable list of its transactions. Open it from a donut slice on the Transactions or Budget page, or from Search.
How to open it
- Click a slice of the category donut on the Transactions page.
- Click a slice of the donut on the Budget page.
- Type the category name into the sidebar Search (⌘K or Ctrl+K). On a phone, use More > Search.
What it shows
- Header
- The emoji, name, period and total, with "vs last" (the change from the previous period, green when spending went down, red when it went up) and the share of your total spending.
- Metrics
- Transactions (about N per week), Avg per Transaction, Monthly Average and Frequency (times per week, and the day it happens most).
- Insights
- Top merchant with its number of visits, Largest transaction, Busiest day and a 6-month trend line.
- Pace alert
- How this period compares with your recent average, for single categories.
- Charts
- A spending gauge, a monthly line chart, a yearly breakdown and a spending heatmap.
The period buttons (1W, M, a month menu, 30, 60, 90, 1Y, ALL) and the Year menu change everything on the page.
Edit transactions from here
The table lists the category's transactions with Date, Name, Labels, Category and Amount. Use Sort by: to sort by date or amount, and Show more to load 25 more.
Click a name, label, category or amount to edit it in place. The message after an edit offers Create Rule, filled in with the name and the old and new category, so the change sticks for future transactions. See Transaction rules.
Group pages
Search for a group name, such as Food & Drink, to see the same page for every category in that group added together.
Common questions
How do I get to a category page?
Click its slice in the Transactions or Budget donut, or search its name with ⌘K / Ctrl+K.
Can I see a whole group at once?
Yes. Search the group name and FIYR opens a page that combines every category in it.
Why did a transaction vanish from the list after I edited it?
You moved it to another category, so it now appears on that category's page instead.
Still stuck?
Email us. A real person who builds FIYR reads every message.
