Where to find itTransactionsclick a row

On a computer

To changeDo this
NameClick the name, type, then press Enter or click away.
CategoryClick the category. Type in Search categories... or scroll the list (grouped by category group), then click one. Arrow keys and Enter work too.
AmountClick the amount, type, press Enter. For incoming money you can type the number without a minus sign; FIYR keeps it as incoming.
LabelsClick the 🏷️ header to widen the labels column, then click the row's label area (or Add label). Tick labels on or off, or type a new name and choose Add "...".
DateHover the row, click ⋮, then Change Date. Pick the date and click Apply.
OwnerIf your profile includes a spouse, widen the 👥 column and pick an owner.

Each change saves straight away. A message appears at the bottom, for example "Updated name from AMZN Mktp US → Amazon". It offers Create Rule so the same change happens automatically next time, and after a name or amount change it also offers Undo.

See what changed

Click ⋮ and then History to open Transaction Details: the name, amount, date, category, account, labels and goal, plus an EDIT HISTORY list of every change as "old → new". Changes made by a rule carry a rule badge, and splits carry a split badge.

On a phone

  1. Tap the transaction to open the edit sheet.
  2. Tap the name to rename it, or tap the date to change it.
  3. Pick a CATEGORY, tap LABELS pills on or off, and set RECURRING RULE or GOAL if you use them.
  4. Tap Save Changes. It stays grey until you change something.

What you cannot edit

  • Notes. Transactions have no notes field. Labels (and a label's description) are the closest substitute.
  • The account. A transaction always belongs to the account it came from.
  • The bank's original description. Renaming changes what FIYR shows; the original name is kept in History.

To split, delete or change many at once, see Split a transaction, Delete a transaction and Edit many transactions at once.

Common questions

I changed a category but new transactions from that store are still wrong. Why?

An edit only changes that one transaction. Use Create Rule in the message after your edit, or add a rule in Settings > Transaction Rules, and FIYR applies it to every new transaction that matches.

Can I add a note to a transaction?

Not currently. Use a label instead; you can give each label a description in Settings > Labels.

How do I change a transaction's date?

On a computer: ⋮ > Change Date > pick a date > Apply. On a phone: tap the row, tap the date, then Save Changes.

Can I undo an edit?

After a name or amount change, click Undo in the message that appears. For anything else, change it back by hand; History shows the old value.

Will my edits survive when a pending charge posts?

Yes. When the bank posts a pending transaction, FIYR carries your name, category, labels and goal over to the posted one.
