Keep a transaction out of your totals
Add the built-in ignore label to a transaction to leave it out of spending, income, budgets and charts. It stays in your list, faded, and you can remove the label any time.
How to ignore a transaction
- On the Transactions page, click the 🏷️ column header to widen the labels column.
- Click the transaction's label area (or Add label).
- Tick ignore. The row fades and the totals update right away.
On a phone, tap the transaction, tap the ignore pill under LABELS, and tap Save Changes. To ignore many at once on a computer, use Edit Multiple > Add Labels > ignore.
What ignore does
- Leaves the transaction out of Spending, Income, Cash Flow, the day totals, budgets, the Dashboard and reports.
- Keeps it in the list at 30% opacity, searchable and editable.
- Leaves it out of the Review tabs and duplicate checks.
- On the ignore label's own page, the charts are hidden and only the list is shown.
See the effect on the numbers in How the Transactions page totals work.
When to use it
- Both sides of a transfer between your own accounts.
- A credit card payment and the matching credit on the card (FIYR usually does this for you).
- A purchase and its refund, when you want them to cancel out.
- A cost someone else paid you back for, if you would rather not count it at all.
Automatic ignoring
To ignore the same kind of transaction every time (for example, every "Online Transfer to Savings"), create a rule with the action Add Label > ignore. See Rule recipes.
The ignore label is built in. It cannot be renamed or deleted.
Common questions
Can I hide a transaction completely?
No. ignore keeps it in the list but out of every total. The only other option is deleting it, which is permanent.
Does ignore affect my budget?
Yes. Ignored transactions do not count toward any budget.
How do I see everything I have ignored?
Type "ignore" in the search box on the Transactions page. Search matches labels.
Can a rule ignore transactions for me?
Yes. Give the rule the action Add Label and pick ignore.
