Turn on two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a text-message code to every sign-in. FIYR sends codes by SMS to a US mobile number. There are no authenticator apps or backup codes, so keep your number up to date.

Where to find itSettingsSecurity

Before you start

  • You need a US mobile number (10 digits) that can receive texts.
  • Verify your email first. If Settings shows "Email not verified", click Resend and follow the link in the email.

Turn it on

  1. Open Settings, then Security.
  2. Click the Two-Factor Authentication switch.
  3. If asked, confirm it is you: enter your password under "Verify Identity", or sign in with Google in the pop-up.
  4. Enter your phone number and click Send Code.
  5. Enter the 6-digit code sent to your phone and click Verify.
  6. You will see "All Set!". Click Done.

Signing in with 2FA

After you enter your password or sign in with Google or Apple, a "Two-Factor Verification" box asks for the 6-digit code texted to your phone. Enter it to finish signing in. If the text does not arrive, click Resend code.

Turn it off

Open Settings, then Security, and click the Two-Factor Authentication switch again. You may be asked to confirm your identity first. You will see "Two-factor authentication disabled."

Limits to know

  • SMS only. Authenticator apps and security keys are not supported.
