The Income page

The Income page tracks your paychecks and other deposits: what you have received this month, what is still expected, your next deposit, and how your income compares year to year. It works best once you have set up recurring income.

Where to find itIncome

On a phone, open More and tap Income. The sidebar cards move below the page.

Set up your recurring income

The first time you open the page it reads Track your income. FIYR can find your regular deposits for you:

  1. Click Find Recurring Income.
  2. Review the patterns it found. Each shows how often it arrives, when it is next due and a confidence score.
  3. Open a pattern to see "Occurred N times for $X" and its range, then click ADD to keep it.
  4. Click Show results with lower confidence scores if something you expected is missing.
  5. Click Done Adding when you are finished.

Deposits are grouped by the first word of their name (PayPal and Zelle deposits by sender and amount), and a group needs at least two deposits. The amount is the average of the group, and the next date is the last deposit plus one period of the detected frequency (for example 14 days for Every 2 weeks). Only matches with 70% confidence or more show by default.

What counts as income here

A transaction counts as income on this page when it is money in, its category is in the Income group, and it is not labelled ignore. A deposit belongs to a recurring income when it is linked to it, either because you added it or because you confirmed a suggestion.

This month: received, expected, past due

The banner at the top reads "You have N remaining deposits expected this month totaling $X", with Received and Expected beside it. The month card lists every deposit due this month.

  • A linked deposit that arrives this month shows as received.
  • Past Due means the date has passed and no linked deposit arrived within a few days of it: 2 days for Weekly, 3 for Every 2 weeks, 5 for Twice a month, Semi-Monthly and Monthly, 10 for Every 2, 3 or 6 months, 15 for Annually.
  • Expected is the total of every row. Received is the rows already in.
  • With Show all income on (the default), the list also includes this month's Income-category deposits that are not linked to any recurring income.

The Next Deposit card shows the next one due (🔔 when it is due within two days or already late), with up to three more under Then:.

Manage a recurring income

  • Click the name to rename it, the amount to change it, and pick a new frequency from its menu.
  • Open the card to turn it off with the Active switch, change the next date, or see its deposits by year. The × next to a deposit unlinks it.
  • For a one-time income with no deposit linked yet, FIYR may spot a likely match and ask "Is this your ...?" Click Yes, link it or Not this.
  • Find More Transactions searches for deposits that look like this one; click ADD on the right ones. Custom incomes do not have this button.
  • Turned-off incomes move to Inactive Recurring Income.

The sidebar and the sources table

{last year} Total Income
Last year's Income-category deposits plus your custom income, with the % change from the year before.
{this year} Expected Income
Income received so far this year + every recurring income still scheduled from tomorrow to December 31, with a progress bar from January to December. Summary's Year-End Income Est. matches it unless you have custom income, which Summary also adds.
12-Month Income
Income-category deposits per month. The current month has a dashed outline showing what it is expected to reach.
All Income Sources
Your deposits grouped by the first meaningful word of their name (for example "ACME PAYROLL 1234" becomes "Acme"), with a column for each of the last four years and a total. Click a row to see its deposits.

If you are married, an Owner or Earner field appears so you can say whose income it is.

Ignored transactions, transfers, refunds and pending

  • Ignored deposits are left out of the totals and the month list.
  • "Incoming Transfer & Deposits" is in the Income group by default, so a transfer in that category counts as income. Recategorize it or label it ignore if it is just your own money moving.
  • Refunds are not income here unless their category is in the Income group.
  • Pending deposits count as soon as they appear.

Common questions

Why does Received not match my bank?

Only deposits linked to a recurring income count, plus Income-category deposits when Show all income is on. Link missing deposits with Find More Transactions.

Why is a deposit marked Past Due?

No linked deposit arrived within the window around its date. Link the real deposit with Find More Transactions, or change the next date on the card.

Why do transfers show up as income?

Their category is Incoming Transfer & Deposits, which is in the Income group. Recategorize them or label them ignore.

Why can't I see Owner or Earner?

Those fields only appear when your profile says you are married.
